Field software, explained
What ServiceTitan Is Used For: The Phone, the Truck, the Invoice, and the Website Standing Next to Them
A homeowner's water heater quits on a Sunday. Between that phone call and the paid invoice sit about a dozen handoffs, and ServiceTitan is the software a lot of larger trade contractors use to run every one of them. Here is what it does, who it suits, and the one job it leaves to your contractor website.

The short answer
ServiceTitan is field service management software for residential and commercial trade contractors. It runs call booking, scheduling and dispatch, the customer record, the pricebook, a technician mobile app, estimates, invoicing and payments, memberships, marketing and reporting in one system. HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage door, roofing and many other trades use it. It does not replace the company website.

Follow one Sunday water heater call through the whole system
Software described feature by feature reads like a parts catalog. Software described by the job it touches makes sense on the first pass. So take one call. A homeowner in a suburb dials the number on a truck wrap, gets a customer service representative, and asks whether anyone can come today. Everything below is something ServiceTitan's own features page, pricing page or help center lists, in the order a real job meets it.
- The call is booked. The CSR finds or creates the customer and the service location, picks a job type and an arrival window, and the call is tied to a marketing campaign, often through a tracking number.
- Dispatch puts it on a board. The job lands on the Dispatch Board, where a dispatcher assigns a technician by skill, zone and availability.
- The technician works from a phone or tablet. The mobile app carries the customer's history, the pricebook, forms and the estimate builder, with good, better and best options.
- The customer says yes and pays. The estimate is sold in the driveway, the invoice is created, and payment or a financing application happens on the spot.
- The relationship continues. A maintenance membership is sold or renewed, a review request goes out after the job, and the customer lands in the next marketing campaign.
- The owner reads the result. Reports and dashboards track revenue, technician performance and campaign results, so the owner can see which work paid.
That chain is the whole pitch. One record follows the job from ring to revenue, so nobody retypes the address four times and nobody argues about which ad produced the furnace sale. Whether the chain holds in practice depends on setup and discipline, which is the part no demo shows.
Front office, field, money and management: the four drawers of the toolbox
ServiceTitan's features page groups its residential tools into a handful of headings, with a separate set for commercial and construction work. The table below follows those headings as published on November 1, 2026, and adds what each one means for a working office. It lists categories, not every switch inside them.
| What ServiceTitan lists | What it does for the office | |
|---|---|---|
| Front Office | Scheduling, Dispatch, Job Booking, Marketing, Memberships, Call Tracking and Phones | Answers and books the work, ties each call to a campaign, and keeps recurring maintenance customers on a schedule |
| Field Operations | Mobile App, Estimates, Pricebook, Equipment, Forms, Timesheets | Gives technicians the price of every task, the equipment on site and the paperwork, without a call back to the office |
| Customer Experience | Online Booking, Two Way SMS, Automated Alerts, Proposals, Financing, Tech Tracking | Lets the customer book, get reminders, see who is coming, review options and apply for financing |
| Management and Insights | Reporting and Dashboards, Inventory, QuickBooks, Payroll, Payables, Job Costing | Shows what each job, technician and campaign earned, and moves the numbers to accounting |
| Pay and Get Paid | Payments, Integrated Financing, Accounts Payable | Collects card and bank payments and connects consumer financing offers to estimates |

Commercial contractors see more: project management, daily logs, change orders, progress billing, work orders, service agreements and a sales tool called Convex. On the money side, ServiceTitan's help center says its Customer Portal lets customers view invoices and service history and request appointments, and that it requires Online Payments and ServiceTitan Payments for cards.
How the product is sold: three packages, the Pro add-ons, and Max
ServiceTitan's pricing page shows three packages, Starter, Essentials and The Works, each with a Request Pricing button and no dollar figure. Every card lists dispatching, scheduling, call booking, invoicing and the pricebook. Essentials adds mobile estimates and payroll management. The Works lists the full set, including advanced reporting, commission tracking and customizable memberships. The page says its "per-technician pricing is designed to fit your business and goals, at any size."
On top of a package sit the Pro products. ServiceTitan's site menu lists eight as of November 2026: AI Virtual Agent, Marketing Pro, Contact Center Pro, Pricebook Pro, Fleet Pro, Scheduling Pro, Dispatch Pro and Field Pro. Then there is Max, which ServiceTitan calls its flagship package. Its October 6, 2026 press release says Max "is now available to every residential in-home contractor," with a limited pilot for commercial and roofing contractors, and a July 2026 ServiceTitan blog post says a Max customer does not need the individual Pro products.
Who runs ServiceTitan, by trade and by size
ServiceTitan's industries page features HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage door, chimney sweep and roofing, then lists more than twenty others, including pest control, pool service, landscaping, lawn care, appliance repair, locksmith, water treatment, septic, handyman, gutter and fire and life safety. On October 13, 2026 the company added a version for enterprise pest control, lawn care and pool and spa businesses, called ServiceTitan for Property Care.
Size is harder to pin down, and the company's own numbers count different things. Its annual report on Form 10-K counted "approximately 10,800 Active Customers" as of January 31, 2026, defined as customers with over $10,000 of annualized billings. Its home page says "Trusted by more than 100,000 service professionals," which counts people, not companies. ServiceTitan does not publish a minimum truck count.
Signs the shop is shaped for it
- A dispatcher or a call center books work, not the owner from a truck
- Several business units, such as service, replacement and maintenance
- Membership or service agreement revenue worth tracking closely
- Marketing spend large enough that you need revenue by campaign
Signs a lighter tool may do
- The owner books, runs and invoices most jobs personally
- One trade, one business unit, a small service area
- Little paid advertising, mostly referrals and repeat customers
- No one in the office to own setup and the pricebook
Those lists are our judgment from building sites for trade contractors, not ServiceTitan's criteria. If the right column sounds like you, compare our sections on Housecall Pro, Jobber and FieldEdge, or read the three-way comparison of what each one lets a website do.
The public website is the one thing ServiceTitan does not build for you
We found no website builder or web hosting in the feature groups ServiceTitan lists. What ServiceTitan does provide are pieces that live on your site: the Scheduling Pro booking overlay, the Chat to Text widget its help center calls a "web conversion tool," dynamic number insertion for call tracking, and a link to the Customer Portal. Each one is a script or a link someone has to install, test and keep working.
The rest of the website is still yours to get right: the service pages that rank, the town pages, the reviews, the speed, the forms. That matters because ServiceTitan's attribution only works as well as the data the site passes along. A form that emails the office loses the click that paid for the visitor. A booking that reloads the page, ServiceTitan's own install guide warns, "can disrupt lead source tracking."
ServiceTitan can tell you which campaign paid for a job only if your website remembered where the customer came from.
Five connections between a contractor site and ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan's API documentation lists 25 API families. A typical contractor website touches only a few of them, and each connection below has its own guide in this section.
- 1
Booking from the site
Scheduling Pro as an overlay, or a custom flow that reads capacity and writes the job. Compared in online booking for ServiceTitan.
- 2
Forms that arrive as bookings or leads
Every request form sent through the CRM API, with name, address, job type and campaign mapped. See ServiceTitan web forms.
- 3
Calls tied to the visit
Tracking numbers that swap by source so a phone call keeps its campaign. See call tracking with ServiceTitan.
- 4
The ad click carried to the invoice
Click IDs and UTM tags stored with the booking, so revenue can go back to Google Ads. See marketing attribution.
- 5
Data read back out
Jobs, estimates and revenue pulled into an owner's screen or a follow-up tool, within the API's rules. See the ServiceTitan API guide.
None of this needs a new website on day one. Many shops start with the forms and the tracking on the site they have, then rebuild when the pages themselves are the problem. Our WordPress or custom build comparison covers that decision.
Where DataCram fits, and what the website side costs
DataCram is a web studio in San Antonio, Texas that builds custom contractor sites on Next.js and connects them to the software the office runs. We are not a ServiceTitan partner and do not resell it. The contractor's own admin approves our app in ServiceTitan, and the credentials stay on the server. Proof: the HomeService WebApp build syncs jobs and estimates both ways with ServiceTitan, and the Bleuwave HVAC site shows the instant estimate work a trade site can carry.

Questions contractors ask about ServiceTitan integration
It runs the business side of field service in one system: booking calls, scheduling and dispatching technicians, the customer and location record, the pricebook, a mobile app for estimates and forms, invoicing and payments, memberships, marketing campaigns and reporting. Its features page also lists payroll, inventory, job costing and a QuickBooks connection. Commercial customers get project and construction tools as well.
Residential and commercial trade contractors. ServiceTitan's industries page features HVAC, plumbing, electrical, garage door, chimney sweep and roofing, and lists more than twenty other trades. Its 10-K counted about 10,800 Active Customers as of January 31, 2026, meaning customers with over $10,000 of annualized billings. Most are companies with an office staff that books and dispatches work.
No. HVAC and plumbing are the best known, but ServiceTitan's industries page also names electrical, garage door, roofing, pest control, pool service, landscaping, lawn care, appliance repair, locksmith, septic, water treatment, handyman and gutter work, among others. In October 2026 it launched ServiceTitan for Property Care for enterprise pest control, lawn care and pool and spa businesses.
ServiceTitan publishes no minimum and says its per-technician pricing fits a business "at any size." The practical question is who will own setup, the pricebook and the reports. A shop where the owner books every job may find Housecall Pro or Jobber simpler. Ask ServiceTitan for a written quote, then compare it with the time the system would save.
We found no website builder or hosting among the features ServiceTitan lists. It supplies tools that sit on your site: the Scheduling Pro booking overlay, the Chat to Text widget, call tracking numbers and a Customer Portal link. The pages, the search rankings, the forms and the tracking that feeds ServiceTitan are the website builder's job.
Max is the package ServiceTitan calls its flagship, built around AI agents across booking, dispatch, the job, the estimate and payment. ServiceTitan's October 6, 2026 release says it is available to every residential in-home contractor, with a limited pilot for commercial and roofing contractors. No price is published; the Max page offers a demo.
