Athena CMS by DataCram

Change your website the way you change the sign on the door.

Athena is the content system we built and put behind every custom site we make. Plain fields, a real preview, publishing on your schedule, and every version kept. Nothing to update, nothing to break, and no plugin with last year’s security hole in it.

Running live on the Rooster Roofing demo: pages, prices, storm banner, reviews and all.

The Athena CMS dashboard: content at a glance, what is waiting, recent activity and AI agents

The tour

Eight screens. You will recognize most of them by the second one.

Athena is laid out the way people already expect a website editor to be: a sidebar of everything you can change, a list, an editor with a Publish box. What is different is what is missing: the clutter, the update nags, and the fear. Tap the numbered dots to see what each part does.

Athena CMS: Dashboard. What is live, what changed since it was published, what is waiting on you, and which agents are on. The morning coffee screen.

Meet the agents

A plugin adds a button. An agent does the job.

Each Athena agent has a name, one job and a schedule. It works through Athena like a member of your staff, never inside the site, and every change it makes can be undone. Two come with Athena; the rest are monthly add-ons you can start or stop at the end of any month.

Monthly add-on

Keeps every picture on the site working for you: described, sized, on brand, and never missing.

  • Writes alt text for every photo that lacks it
  • Flags oversized, blurry or stretched images and fixes the size
  • Generates on-brand photos and illustrations for new pages
  • Finds pages that need a picture and proposes one

What it does

Everything a business needs to change. Nothing it needs to babysit.

  • Fields, not code

A price is a price field. A photo is a photo field. Nobody edits a layout by accident, because there is no layout to grab.

  • Preview on the real page

See the draft on the live site, in place, before anyone else does. Visitors keep seeing the published version until you say otherwise.

  • Publish now, or Tuesday at 6

Schedule the holiday hours, the spring offer, the new service page. Athena publishes on time whether or not you are awake.

  • Every version kept

Every publish, every AI draft, every restore, and a snapshot every ten minutes of work. Compare any two, field by field, and bring one back.

  • AI that writes in your voice

Draft a whole page from a sentence, or rewrite one field to be shorter, friendlier, or clearer about the warranty. It never publishes on its own.

  • Agents with a job

A roster of named AI agents, each with one job: Zeus watches the weather, Picasso minds the photos, Ares watches the competition. Every run is logged and every change can be undone.

  • No plugins to patch

There is no wp-admin for bots to hammer and no plugin with last year's hole in it. Sign-in is rate-limited, roles are enforced on every request.

  • Pages that load like a fact

Content is published into a Next.js site that serves pages pre-built. Editing never slows the site down, because the site never waits on the editor.

Athena or WordPress

WordPress can do almost anything. That is the problem.

A general-purpose tool asks you to manage it in general. Athena is shaped to one business at a time, so the only buttons on the screen are the ones you need. If WordPress is working for you, keep it; we also build and fix WordPress sites.

How you get it

Three steps, and only the last one is yours.

  1. 01

    We map your content

Services, prices, locations, offers, hours, reviews: whatever you change, we turn into fields with sensible limits and plain-English labels.

  2. 02

We build the site around it

A fast custom Next.js site that reads from Athena, with preview, schedules and every page refreshing the moment you publish.

  3. 03

    You run it

Sign in, change what you need, preview, publish. Add your team with the right roles. Call us when you want something new, not when something breaks.

Athena comes with a custom Next.js site. More on how we build content systems on the CMS development page, or read what a custom CMS is.

About Athena CMS

Athena is the content management system DataCram built and puts behind every custom website we make. It is where you change your words, prices, photos, pages and banners, preview them on the real site, and publish now or on a schedule. Every version is kept.

No. Athena is its own system, made for sites built in Next.js. There is no WordPress underneath it, which is why there are no plugins to update and no wp-admin for bots to attack.

Athena comes with a DataCram custom site, set up with content types shaped like your business. If you have a site today, the place to start is a conversation about moving it to Next.js; we will tell you plainly whether it is worth it.

No. If you can fill in a form, you can run your site. Each page is a set of labeled fields with a character counter, help text and a Publish button. The design lives in the code, so editing cannot break it.

It drafts a whole entry from a sentence or two, or rewrites a single field to an instruction, in the voice and rules set for your business. The result lands in your draft for you to read, and the previous version goes into the history first. It never publishes by itself.

Agents are AI workers with a name, one job and a schedule. Zeus, on the roofing demo, watches the National Weather Service and keeps the storm banner current; Demeter drafts the next seasonal offer for a person to approve. Others mind the photos (Picasso), audit the site (Apollo), watch competitors (Ares), find content holes (Prometheus), fix page depth and internal links (Atlas), and more. Each is off until you switch it on, every run is logged, and every change can be undone.

Zeus and Demeter come with Athena. The other agents are monthly add-ons: pick the ones that take a job off your plate and we set each one up against your site's own content, usually within a week. We confirm the monthly price with you before anything is billed, and you can stop any agent at the end of a month.

A plugin adds a feature and waits for someone to use it; an agent does the job. Agents never run inside your site, so they add no code to your pages, cannot conflict with each other, and have nothing for you to update. Every change an agent makes lands in the page's history under its name, ready to undo.

Yes. Add people under People and give each a role: authors write drafts, editors publish and delete, administrators manage people and agents. Removing someone signs them out at once.

Into Athena's media library. Upload straight from a phone; Athena turns photos the right way up and sizes them for the web before they upload, then any image field can pick from the library.

Your site should be the easiest thing you run.
