Websites for remodelers
Website Design for Remodelers: A Site That Sells the Process, Not Just the Photos
Every remodeler's website has a beautiful kitchen on it. Homeowners have seen a thousand. What they have not seen is how your firm runs a job: who designs it, how selections work, what the budget bands are, and what happens the week the cabinets arrive late. The site that explains that gets the consultation.

The short answer
A remodeling website should explain how your firm works, show finished projects by room and town, publish honest budget ranges, prove the business is insured and certified, and book design consultations from qualified homeowners. DataCram builds custom remodeling sites from a fixed $1,750, about $9,000 with an estimate or booking flow, with Athena CMS and 0% financing.

Five jobs a remodeling site does before the first meeting
A remodeler's site is not a brochure. It does sales work your project manager would otherwise do on the phone, mostly sorting: which homeowners are ready, which budgets fit, which projects you want. These are the jobs we design it around.
Sort budgets politely
Published ranges by room and a budget question on the form turn away the mismatched inquiry before anyone drives across town to measure.
Explain the process
Design, selections, permits, construction, walkthrough. A homeowner who understands the sequence trusts the firm that wrote it down.
Book the consultation
A calendar with real openings, or a short request form that asks project type, timing, budget and photos.
Prove the firm is real
Insurance, EPA lead-safe certification, any NARI credential, warranty terms, BBB grade and years in business, in one place.
Keep past clients close
A page for returning clients and a referral form, because the next room in the same house is the cheapest project you will ever win.
The form deserves more thought than it usually gets. A remodeler's inquiry form that asks only name, email and message produces a stack of messages that each need a phone call to decode. Ours asks the room, the rough timing, a budget band and a few photos, then tells the homeowner exactly what happens next and when. The homeowner feels taken seriously, and your team opens each inquiry already knowing whether it fits.
Pages and features a remodeling site needs
| Why it matters | What it includes | |
|---|---|---|
| Service pages by room | Homeowners search kitchens, baths and additions separately | Scope, typical duration, budget band, three related projects, a consultation button |
| Project write-ups | Proof that you have done this exact job nearby | Room, town, starting problem, scope, duration, photos, the client's review if they gave one |
| Process page | Answers the question every homeowner asks: what happens and when | Phases, who they will talk to, how selections and change orders work |
| Budget guide | Filters inquiries and is the page AI engines most like to quote | Ranges from your recent work, what drives cost, what is excluded, a date |
| Proof page | Texas has no remodeling license, so trust comes from other credentials | Insurance, EPA lead-safe firm certification, NARI credentials, warranty, BBB link |
| Older homes page | Pre-1978 houses fall under the EPA lead rule | How your certified crew handles painted surfaces and what the family should expect |
| Consultation booking | Converts readers into appointments | Calendar or form with project type, timing, budget band and photo upload |
| Client portal (optional) | Selections, schedules and change orders in one login | A web app feature; sites with a portal start at $3,500 |
Our older general contractor website plan covers the trade-wide essentials such as estimate flows and financing callouts. This page is about the design-build and remodeling firm specifically, where the sale is the process. The contractor website checklist lists every page in detail.
Paperwork the site can carry: lead rules, lien notices and the three-day right
Remodeling has a few legal requirements that touch the website, and a site that handles them well looks more professional than one that ignores them. DataCram is not a law firm. We build the pages; your attorney approves the wording.
- Lead-safe work. The EPA's RRP Rule (40 CFR Part 745) requires firms paid to disturb paint in pre-1978 homes, child care facilities and preschools to be lead-safe certified with trained workers. If you are, state it with the certification details. If you are not, do not imply it.
- Lien disclosure. Texas Property Code section 53.255 requires the original contractor on a residential contract to give the owner a statutory disclosure about lien rights, releases, subcontractor lists and payment monitoring before signing. A plain-English page explaining what clients will receive builds trust.
- In-home sales. The FTC Cooling-Off Rule gives buyers 3 business days to cancel in-home sales of $25 or more, with notice and forms. If your estimate flow leads to signing at the kitchen table, the site should not promise otherwise.
- Reviews. The FTC's review rule bans fake or AI-written reviews and undisclosed staff reviews. Quote real clients, with permission.
- Tax credits. The federal 25C credit for windows, doors and insulation ended for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Remove any page that still promises it.
Project galleries that load before the homeowner gives up
Remodeling sites are photo sites, and photo sites are slow unless someone builds them carefully. A project page with twenty full-size images from a phone can weigh more than the whole site should. We resize and serve each photo at the size the screen needs, load the ones below the fold only as the visitor scrolls, and keep the text in the HTML so it shows before the pictures do.
Most homeowners first see the site on a phone, often from a link in a review or a text from a neighbor. Galleries swipe, buttons are thumb-sized, and the consultation button stays in reach. Every photo gets a written description, which helps screen readers and search engines alike, and colors meet contrast standards. If accessibility is a concern for your firm, our ADA compliance work goes further, and Core Web Vitals tuning covers speed on older sites.
A gallery nobody waits for is a gallery nobody sees.
How the site feeds search, maps and AI answers
The budget guide, process page and project write-ups do double duty. They persuade the homeowner, and they are the passages Google, ChatGPT and Gemini lift when someone asks what a bath remodel costs in their city. Because our sites are built on Next.js and prerendered, the text is in the HTML that crawlers fetch; many AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, which is why rendering matters for AI. The remodeling GEO page covers the listings and reviews that sit around the site.
Every site we build includes Athena CMS. For remodelers the useful agents are Echo, which drafts review replies and places review quotes on the matching project pages; Prometheus, which finds questions homeowners ask that the site does not answer and drafts the page; Calliope for articles; Iris for titles, social cards and structured data; and Harmonia for Spanish versions. Agents draft; you approve.
What a remodeling site costs, and how to spread it out
Custom builds and rebuilds are a fixed price starting at $1,750. A site with online booking or an estimate flow is about $9,000 on our web design pricing page, and sites with a client portal or web app start at $3,500 before the rest of the scope is added. We quote after a free audit or the free mockup, and the number does not drift.
0% financing is available with 25% down: up to 12 months on any project, 24 months from $15,000 and 36 months from $20,000. A $9,000 site is $2,250 down and $562.50 a month for twelve months. Hosting and upkeep can be handled through our hosting and maintenance plans.

When Squarespace is honestly enough
A builder will do if
- You build a few projects a year, all from referrals
- Nobody books consultations online
- You do not need a budget guide, portal or estimate flow
- You will update the gallery yourself
A custom site pays when
- You want bigger projects than referrals bring
- Inquiries need sorting by budget and timing
- You build in several towns and want pages for each
- You want the site read by search engines and AI
Our Squarespace comparison lays out the tradeoffs. Questions owners ask before a new website
Service pages by room, project write-ups with town and scope, a process page, a budget guide with honest ranges, a proof page with insurance and certifications, and a way to book a consultation. Firms that work on older homes should explain their EPA lead-safe certification. A returning-client or referral page is worth adding.
DataCram's custom builds start at $1,750 as a fixed price. A site with an estimate flow or online booking is about $9,000 on our pricing page, and sites with a client portal start at $3,500 before other scope. With 0% financing and 25% down, a $9,000 site is $2,250 down and $562.50 a month for twelve months.
Ranges, yes. A budget guide based on your recent projects sorts inquiries before anyone drives out to measure, and it is one of the pages AI engines quote when homeowners ask what a remodel costs. State what drives the range and what is excluded, and date it.
Yes. A portal is a web app feature, and sites with a portal or web app start at $3,500. We scope it after the free audit so the quote reflects what your clients actually need to see.
Not if the move is done properly. We keep URLs where we can, redirect every one that changes, carry over titles and descriptions, and keep content that ranks. Links from Houzz, reviews and directories keep working.
We do, with you. Send photos and a few lines per job, or talk us through them, and we write the room, town, problem, scope and duration. After launch, Athena CMS lets your team add new projects, and its agents draft review replies and pages for your approval.
