Avada Developer for Hire: Builder Layouts, Global Options and Updates That Stay in Step

Avada has sold 1,072,654 copies on ThemeForest. That is a lot of sites sharing one three-part engine, and one habit: falling out of step with itself. We work on that engine, from the theme and its two required plugins to the options panel and every layout built on top.

The short answer

An Avada developer keeps the theme, Avada Core and Avada Builder on matching versions, builds headers and page layouts in Avada's Layout Builder, sets Global Options for speed, clears out half-finished demo imports and keeps the ThemeForest registration in your name. DataCram does this work, starting with a free audit and a fixed quote.

Patch 7.16.2 first, then talk about design

On September 30, 2026, ThemeFusion released Avada 7.16.2, which fixed six vulnerabilities, among them cross-site scripting in form submissions and a flaw in Stripe checkout validation. The matching required plugins are Avada Core 5.16.2 and Avada Builder 3.16.2. If your site runs anything older, that is the first job on any Avada engagement, before a single color changes.

Sites fall behind for ordinary reasons. Updates need a valid registration. The bundled plugins update only when Avada delivers them. And an owner who once watched an update scramble the layout tends to stop clicking the button. That fear is reasonable. The cure is a routine, not avoidance.

After a major update, ThemeFusion's own documentation says to rebuild critical CSS and clear the Avada, plugin, browser and server caches, because most visual problems after an update come from stale caches. When styles still look wrong after that, Avada CSS not updating goes through the next checks.

One theme, two required plugins, six passengers

Avada is not one product. It is a theme that depends on two required companion plugins, plus a set of premium plugins that ride along with your registration. Knowing which piece owns which job is most of the diagnosis.

  • Avada (the theme) holds the templates and Avada Global Options, the panel where site-wide typography, colors, layout and performance settings live.
  • Avada Core (required) carries the features the theme depends on. It must match the theme version.
  • Avada Builder (required) is the Live Visual Builder and the back-end builder. It must match too.
  • Bundled premium plugins: Slider Revolution, LayerSlider, ACF Pro, Convert Plus, FileBird Pro and Avada Custom Branding, delivered after registration and updated through Avada rather than by their own vendors.
  • Your child theme, if anyone made one, holds code changes that should survive updates.

Most Avada sites use one or two of the six bundled plugins and leave the rest active out of caution. Every active plugin is code that loads and a door that needs locking. We remove what the site does not use and document what stays. The Avada review covers the theme's strengths and weak spots in full.

Keeping the ThemeForest license straight

Avada is sold through ThemeForest under Envato's standard licenses, and licensing causes more stalled updates than code does. Here is how it works as of October 2026.

Avada licensing on ThemeForest, as of October 2026
How it works
Regular License$69, one end product that is free to its end users
Extended License$2,950, required when end users pay for the end product
UpdatesFuture updates included with the purchase
SupportSix months from ThemeFusion; a 12-month extension is offered at checkout
More than one siteOne license per site or client project
RegistrationEnvato token or purchase code; Avada's FAQ gives tokens a 10-day grace period after updating, then asks for a purchase code
RefundsEnvato rules: not for a change of mind, possible for a broken item or unpatched vulnerability

The mess we see most: an agency bought Avada on its own Envato account and registered your site with its purchase code. When the agency moves on, the updates go with it, and so do the bundled plugins and prebuilt content that come with registration. Our fix is plain. You buy a license in your own Envato account, we register the site with your code, and the handover note records both. More detail is on the Avada pricing page.

What we build and fix inside Avada

Global Options, set on purpose

Typography, colors, layout widths and the performance panel configured once and written down, so nobody overrides them page by page.

Layout and Header Builder

Headers, footers and page layouts built in the Layout Builder, with different headers assigned where they belong, plus Mega Menu and Off-Canvas panels. If the header vanishes, see Avada header not showing.

WooCommerce Builder

Custom shop, product, cart, checkout and thank-you layouts built from Avada elements. The store specifics are in Avada with WooCommerce.

A real child theme

Avada ships Avada-Child-Theme.zip in the All Files and Documentation download from ThemeForest. Code changes go there, so a theme update cannot erase them.

Forms and Stripe, retested

After 7.16.2 touched form submissions and Stripe checkout validation, we test every Avada form and payment path end to end.

One editor per page

Avada's docs say a page made in the block editor cannot be edited in Avada Builder, and the reverse. We pick one per page type so editors never open the wrong one.

The third option

Athena CMS, with AI agents on staff.

Not a theme and not a blank Next.js repo. The content system we put behind every custom site: plain fields, a real preview, every version kept, and AI agents that handle the chores a plugin only nags you about.

and 12 more agents. Two come with Athena; the rest are monthly add-ons.

The demo you imported years ago is still on the server

Avada's site lists 113 prebuilt websites. Importing one takes minutes. Finishing it rarely happens. Years later the site still carries demo pages nobody links to, sliders that load on every visit, sample forms and a media library full of stock images. Each costs speed, and some of it costs security. Avada's own documentation is candid here: the theme can score well, but user content will primarily dictate how fast the site performs.

Our cleanup inventories every page, slider, form and image, deletes what is unused, and runs the Performance Wizard to switch off features the site never calls. If an import failed halfway and left the site in pieces, Avada demo import failed is the place to start.

Global Options settings we change, and the ones we test first

  • The CSS compiler set to write a file, with critical CSS generated and rebuilt after updates.
  • Font-display chosen deliberately and the fonts the design uses preloaded; see Avada fonts not loading if text flashes or vanishes.
  • Emoji script removed, video facades on, and Avada or WordPress lazy loading picked, not both.
  • Deferring jQuery to the footer only after testing, because Avada's docs warn it can break scripts.

The full list, with what each setting does, is in the Avada speed guide.

Six steps from audit to a site you can update without dread

  1. 1

    Free audit

Theme, Core and Builder versions, registration owner, bundled plugins in use, leftover demo content and field data from Google. Book it through the site audit.

  2. 2

    Fixed quote

Scope in writing and one price. Surprises found later are raised before they are worked on.

  3. 3

    Staging copy

Every change happens on a copy of the site first. The live site carries on.

  4. 4

    Bring versions into line

Theme, Avada Core and Avada Builder updated together, registration moved to your account, caches cleared and critical CSS rebuilt.

  5. 5

    Build and clean

Layouts, Global Options, WooCommerce templates, child theme code and demo cleanup, as quoted.

  6. 6

    Handover

A note listing versions, settings, plugins kept and why, and the update routine to follow next time.

Why two Avada quotes can differ by weeks

Two Avada sites with the same page count can need very different amounts of work. We price after the audit, never per page, and the main drivers are easy to see once someone looks.

  • How far behind the theme, Avada Core and Avada Builder are, and whether the registration is yours.
  • How much of the original demo is still live, and how many sliders run.
  • Whether the store uses the WooCommerce Builder and how many custom layouts it has.
  • How much custom code sits in the parent theme, where the next update will erase it.
  • Whether pages are split between the block editor and Avada Builder.

Larger projects can be spread out with website financing. And if your Avada site is current, registered to you and doing its job, you may not need us at all. A tidy Avada install with a short update routine can run for years, and we will say so on the call.

When Avada is the wrong foundation for what comes next

Avada suits an owner who wants one purchase with a builder, sliders and forms included. It suits a business less well once the site becomes the sales engine: every new feature lands as another element or plugin, every update is a three-part sync, and speed depends on how disciplined every editor stays. The Avada vs Next.js comparison puts the two side by side.

A Next.js build has no theme, Core or Builder to keep in step, and it ships only the code each page uses. Your team still edits in plain fields through Athena CMS, where Aegis checks daily for intrusions and Argus watches for failing forms. The move itself, including what happens to Avada Builder content, is laid out in Avada to Next.js, and we compare Avada with its rivals in Avada vs Divi. The rest of our theme work is listed under WordPress theme developer services.

Questions people ask before they call

Yes. Under Envato's standard licenses, a Regular License covers one end product, so each site needs its own. As of October 2026 a Regular License is $69 and an Extended License, required when end users pay for the end product, is $2,950. We make sure each site is registered with a purchase code in your name.

It is running code with known, published vulnerabilities, including cross-site scripting in form submissions and a Stripe checkout validation flaw that 7.16.2 fixed on September 30, 2026. That is a good reason to update promptly. Test on staging first, update the theme, Avada Core and Avada Builder together, then clear caches and rebuild critical CSS.

Usually one of three things: the theme and its two required plugins are on different versions, the caches still hold old CSS, or critical CSS was not rebuilt. ThemeFusion's update guidance points to caches first. If the builder itself will not open, Avada Builder not loading covers that case.

Yes, and it is most of our Avada work. We start by finding who owns the registration, which versions are installed and which bundled plugins are actually used. Then we move the license to your account and bring everything into line. If the site is badly broken, the Avada repair hub is the faster first stop.

Only if the site has outgrown Avada: leads depend on speed, you need features that keep adding plugins, or updates eat a day every time. If it is a brochure site that works, keep it and maintain it well. The audit gives you an honest answer either way, and WordPress to Next.js explains what a move involves.
