BeTheme fix
BeTheme Pre-Built Website Import Failed or Stuck? Fix It Here
A pre-built website import is several jobs in a row: install the plugins, create the pages, fetch the images from Muffin Group's servers, load the sliders and apply the Theme Options. When one of them stops, BeTheme rarely says which. You are left with half a website that looks nothing like the preview, and what is missing is the best clue to what went wrong.
What you are seeing
- The import sits on one step and never finishes
- Pages arrive with empty boxes where the images should be
- The home page says a slider with that alias was not found
- BeTheme reports that the registration limit is exceeded
- A second attempt left two of every menu item
Why it happens on BeTheme
Most common first.
- 1
The server gave up before the import did
Importing a complete pre-built website is one of the longest requests a WordPress site ever runs. On hosting with a 30-second execution limit or a small memory allowance, PHP stops partway and the screen goes on waiting. Whatever had arrived by then stays. The rest never comes.
- 2
Your server could not fetch the demo media
The images are downloaded from Muffin Group's servers into your uploads folder. If the host blocks outbound connections, the folder is not writable, a custom uploads path is in use or the account is out of disk space, the pages import and the pictures do not.
- 3
The purchase code is missing or in use elsewhere
The pre-built library depends on a registered purchase code. An unregistered copy cannot pull the import files, and a code already registered on another domain produces the 'Registration limit exceeded' message. Which ThemeForest account bought the theme is often the hardest fact on the whole site to establish.
- 4
Slider Revolution was missing or inactive
A demo's sliders are loaded into Slider Revolution, one of the bundled plugins the import installs. If that install failed, the page still carries the slider's shortcode and shows an alias-not-found error where the slider should be.
- 5
The import was run twice
Running an import over a partial one does not repair it. Pages with new names are added, menu items are duplicated and Theme Options follow whichever website was imported last. The result is harder to untangle than the original failure.
How to fix it, in order
Least invasive first. Stop at the step that fixes it.
- 1
Stop, and back up what exists
Do not click import again yet. If the site already held real content, take a full backup of files and database now. On a brand-new install there is nothing to lose, which makes it the best moment to get this right.
- 2
Confirm the registration
Go to BeTheme, Dashboard and check that the purchase code is registered to this domain. If the theme reports a registration limit, deregister the other site from its own BeTheme dashboard or contact Muffin Group. The code itself is in the license certificate on your ThemeForest downloads page.
- 3
Read System Status before the rerun
BeTheme, Dashboard, System Status shows the PHP limits the import depends on. Through your host, raise max execution time to 180 seconds or more and memory to at least 256 MB. Confirm that wp-content/uploads is writable and that WordPress uses the default uploads location.
- 4
Install the bundled plugins first
Open BeTheme, Plugins and install and activate what the chosen website needs, Slider Revolution in particular. Doing this ahead of the import removes one long step from the run and one way for it to fail.
- 5
Reset, then import once
In BeTheme, Pre-built websites, choose the website and accept the importer's database reset if this is a fresh site. The reset removes pages, posts and media and leaves Theme Options alone. On a site with real content, skip the reset and import selected data only. Then let it run without closing the tab.
- 6
Fill the gaps with a selective import
If one part is still missing, return to the same pre-built website and import only that part, such as the Revolution Slider demo or the Theme Options. Afterward check Settings, Reading for the home page and Appearance, Menus for the menu location.
Keep it from coming back
- Import onto a fresh install or a staging copy, never over a live site
- Raise the PHP limits shown in System Status before you start
- Choose one pre-built website and delete the sample pages you will not use
- Keep the purchase code registered to the domain you are building on
The permanent fix
A faster Next.js build, with a CMS made for your business
One failed import is a server limit and a routine fix. A site that has had three pre-built websites poured into it, with duplicated menus and Theme Options from whichever came last, is telling you no demo ever fit the business. At that point a Next.js build with a custom CMS, designed around your own pages instead of someone else's samples, can be the shorter road than untangling the layers.
| On BeTheme today | On Next.js with a custom CMS | |
|---|---|---|
| What you keep updated | WordPress, the theme, its builder and every bundled plugin, all in step | Nothing on a schedule. There is no theme or plugin stack to fall out of step |
| How a page is served | Built from the database on each visit, through the theme and its builder | Built ahead of time and served as finished files from servers near the visitor |
| How you edit it | A general-purpose builder with every option the theme ships | A CMS built around what your business actually changes: services, prices, photos, posts |
| What can break it | An update to any one of those parts, or a license that lapses | A change someone makes on purpose, tested before it goes live |
Your content, your addresses and your rankings come with you: every page is moved, every old address is redirected, and you get a login to an editor that only shows what you need. A repair is still the right call for many sites, and we will say so when it is.

Frequently asked
The images are fetched from Muffin Group's servers during the import. If your host blocks that outbound connection, the uploads folder is not writable or the request times out, the pages are created and the media is skipped. Fix what System Status flags, then rerun the import on a reset database.
You can, with side effects. Theme Options take the settings of the last website imported, menu items are duplicated and only pages with unique names are added. If you want one slider or one set of options from another demo, import that selected data only instead of the complete website.
No. The reset in the import wizard removes content: pages, posts, portfolio items, other custom post types and media files. Theme Options stay as they are and change only if the import includes them. Never run the reset on a site holding content you want to keep.
Yes. The pre-built library, like theme updates and bundled plugin updates, depends on the purchase code being registered under BeTheme, Dashboard. A code registered on another domain has to be released there first, from that site's dashboard or with Muffin Group's help.
