SEO Reporting Tools: Data Studio, Search Console Exports and Agency Dashboards, Compared and Priced
A reporting tool finds nothing. It carries numbers from the place they were counted to the place someone will look at them, on a schedule, wearing your logo. That is a real job, and the market prices it anywhere from nothing to a thousand euros a month and beyond.

The short answer
The best SEO reporting tool for most small businesses is free: Data Studio (renamed from Looker Studio in April 2026) reading Search Console and GA4, emailed as a PDF on a schedule. Agencies with many clients add a dashboard such as AgencyAnalytics ($20 per client a month, billed annually) or DashThis (from $54 a month) for white labeling.

A reporting tool is plumbing, not a source of truth
Every SEO report has three layers. At the bottom sit the sources that actually counted something: Search Console for clicks and impressions, GA4 for visits and leads, Bing Webmaster Tools, a rank tracker, the call log, the CRM. In the middle sit the pipes: exports, APIs and connectors. On top sits the page somebody reads, a dashboard or a PDF. Reporting tools sell the top two layers. None of them can improve the bottom one.
That is why the cheapest fix to a bad report is rarely a new tool. If GA4 does not record calls, a $300 dashboard will chart the absence beautifully. Decide what belongs on the page first, using our guide to SEO KPIs, which also walks through building a free one-page report step by step. This guide is about the software: what each option can pull, what it costs, and where it quietly stops.
The rest of the stack, from crawlers to keyword tools, is mapped in the SEO tools hub. Reporting is the job that sits on top of all of them.
Getting data out of Search Console, and the 1,000-row ceiling
Search Console is the only place Google's own search data lives, so every reporting tool starts by asking it for rows. How you ask decides how much you get. Google's help center lists the export button in most reports, with Google Sheets, Excel and CSV as formats, and then the catch: the export is truncated to 1,000 rows of representative examples. Totals in the file are the real totals; the rows underneath are a sample.
| Method | What you get | The limit to know | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Export button | The report as shown, filters applied, to Sheets, Excel or CSV | 1,000 rows; cells showing ~ or - export as zeros | A quick look at top queries or pages |
| Data Studio connector | Live charts that refresh without exports | One aggregation table per data source; anonymized queries appear as a blank row | A standing monthly report |
| Search Console API | Rows pulled by script or by a connector built on it | 50,000 rows per day per search type per property | Larger sites and agency tools |
| Bulk data export to BigQuery | A daily export of all performance data except anonymized queries | No backfill before setup; Google Cloud bills storage and queries above the free tier | Big sites, analysts who write SQL |
Google's bulk export documentation adds that the first export can take up to 48 hours to arrive and that data piles up indefinitely unless you set an expiration. For a local business with a few thousand queries, it is a sledgehammer. For a store with forty thousand product pages, it is the only way to see the long tail at all.
Two newer features belong in any report. Since August 31, 2026 every property has a Generative AI performance report counting impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode, exportable like the rest, though it shows no clicks. And Search Console now lets owners and full users pin annotations to the chart: up to 120 characters each, 200 per property, deleted after 500 days. Write the redesign date there and the next report explains itself. Our Search Console guide covers the reports themselves.
Data Studio: the free report builder that got its old name back
Google renamed Looker Studio to Data Studio in an April 10, 2026 Google Cloud post, reversing the 2022 rename. Existing reports, data sources and users moved over automatically. Google now pitches it for personal exploration and ad-hoc reporting, with Looker kept as the enterprise platform. Several vendor pages still call it Looker Studio, which is how you can tell when their screenshots were taken.
For SEO it does three things well. It reads Search Console and GA4 through Google's own connectors at no cost. It puts both on one page that refreshes itself. And it emails the page on a schedule, which matters more than any chart, because owners read attachments and ignore links.
- Pick the right Search Console table. Site Impression aggregates by site, URL Impression by page. A data source holds only one, so a report that needs both uses two data sources side by side. Only URL Impression offers the Discover and Google News search types.
- Filter the blank query row. Google hides some queries for privacy and the connector groups them into one row with an empty Query value. Exclude nulls or the top row of your query table will be a void.
- Know the free schedule limits. Google's scheduling help page allows one schedule per report, at most daily, up to 50 recipients, with a PDF attached. Individual accounts can send 200 emails a day and 800 a month.
- Vet partner connectors. Connectors for Facebook, call tracking or CRMs are built by other companies. Google's documentation tells you to review the developer and the data access before connecting one. Some, such as Supermetrics, charge a monthly subscription.
Data Studio Pro is the paid tier, sold per license each month with a 30-day trial. It adds team workspaces owned by the organization, up to 200 schedules per report sent as often as hourly, delivery to Google Chat and Slack, and Gemini features such as building calculated fields from a typed request. Google's documentation pages do not print the price, so check the current rate on Google's own Data Studio page. A business with one site rarely needs Pro.
GA4 will email a report on its own
Many owners never open a dashboard, however handsome. For them, GA4's scheduled emails may be the whole reporting tool. Google's help page on scheduled reports says administrators can schedule up to 50 standard or custom reports, each to up to 50 addresses, daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly, as a PDF or CSV, active for 1 to 12 months.
- 1
Build the report you would show
Customize a Traffic acquisition report to show sessions and key events by channel, then save it so the schedule has something worth sending.
- 2
Schedule it for the 4th
Google suggests the 4th day of the month so late-arriving hits make it in. A report sent on the 1st undercounts the last days of the month.
- 3
Renew it before it lapses
Schedules expire after the period you choose, 12 months at most. Put the renewal date in the calendar beside the subscription renewals.
- 4
Check the AI Assistant channel
Since May 13, 2026 visits from ChatGPT, Gemini and other assistants have their own default channel, while AI Overviews and AI Mode stay in Organic Search. Our guide to tracking AI traffic in GA4 explains the split.
The schedule only sends what GA4 recorded. If the form and call events are missing, fix that first with conversion tracking setup; the tracking problems page lists the usual breaks.
Agency dashboards and suite report builders, priced October 2026
Paid reporting tools earn their fee in three situations: many clients, many data sources, or a client who expects your logo and not Google's. Every price below comes from the vendor's own pricing or help page in October 2026. DataCram is not a partner, affiliate or reseller of any of them.
| Tool | Price | What the money buys | Suits | Skip it if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Data Studio | Free; Pro sold per license monthly | Google connectors, scheduled PDF email; Pro adds team workspaces, hourly schedules, Gemini | Almost everyone with Google data | You need white-labeled client portals |
| GA4 scheduled emails | Free | Up to 50 scheduled reports, PDF or CSV | Owners who read email, not dashboards | You need Search Console data in the same file |
| AgencyAnalytics | $20 per client a month, billed annually; 14-day trial | 85+ integrations, white-label portal, alerts; rank tracking a separate add-on | Agencies with a steady client list | You report on one business |
| DashThis | From $54 a month ($44 billed yearly) for 3 dashboards | White label and unlimited integrations on every plan; 14-day trial | Freelancers and small agencies | You need more than a few dashboards cheaply |
| Swydo | €69 a month for 10 data sources, then per source | Unlimited clients, users and reports; full white labeling; 14-day trial | Agencies with many small accounts | Each client brings a dozen sources |
| Whatagraph | From €999 a month, billed annually | 50 or more connected sources, unlimited users and reports | Large agencies | You are not one |
| Semrush My Reports | $10 a report a month (Base), $20 (Pro) | Base includes GA4 and Search Console; Pro adds white labeling and all integrations | Teams already paying for Semrush | You do not use Semrush |
| SE Ranking Agency Pack | +$69 a month, annual only, on a Core ($129) or Growth plan | White label for the platform and reports, unlimited scheduled reports | Agencies using SE Ranking for tracking | You only need the reports |
| Supermetrics | Starter $55 a month ($44 annual) | Pulls 3 data sources into one destination such as Data Studio or Sheets | Getting ad and social data into Data Studio | Your report is only Google data |
Two notes on the fine print. Semrush says a first paid toolkit includes three Base reports, so check what you already own before buying more; our Semrush pricing breakdown covers the plans. Ahrefs sells its Report Builder as an add-on, described in our Ahrefs review. Rank data inside these dashboards still comes from a tracker; rank trackers explains which kind measures a service area honestly.
What the tool will put on the page if you let it
Dashboard vendors compete on how full a page looks. Templates arrive loaded with twelve tiles, a sparkline per metric, a domain score and, lately, an AI summary that paraphrases the chart directly above it. Each element is defensible. Together they bury the two numbers the reader came for.
Worth the space
- Leads from organic search, beside the same month last year
- Non-branded clicks from Search Console
- The pages being worked on, named, with their numbers
- Annotations that date every change
- One paragraph: what was done, what is next
Template filler
- Total impressions with no page filter
- A vendor authority score with no method shown
- Sitewide average position
- Social follower counts in an SEO report
- An AI summary restating the chart
The report is not the work. It is the receipt for the work, and receipts should be short.
If AI answers matter to your customers, give them a section of their own rather than a tile. Search Console's impression counts and GA4's AI Assistant channel are free; what they cannot show is whether ChatGPT names you. Our page on the monthly GEO report lists what that section should hold, and GEO tools compared covers the trackers.
Which setup fits who reads the report
One business, owner reads email
Data Studio with the Search Console and GA4 connectors, plus a GA4 scheduled PDF on the 4th. Cost: nothing. Add a quarterly look at Bing Webmaster Tools, as our free SEO tools guide describes.
In-house marketer, several channels
Data Studio, with Supermetrics or another partner connector for ads and social. Budget about $44 to $55 a month for the connector, and nothing for the report.
Freelancer with five clients
DashThis or Swydo, both white label from the entry plan. Price them against your client count, since one charges per dashboard and the other per data source.
Agency with thirty clients
AgencyAnalytics at $20 per client, or the agency add-on of the suite you already use. Insist that client Search Console and GA4 accounts stay owned by the client.
Multi-location or large store
Bulk export to BigQuery, with Data Studio on top. Somebody on staff needs to write SQL, or the data sits there accruing storage fees.
Whichever you choose, schedule the first report before you design the second page. A plain report that arrives every month beats a perfect one that is still in draft. If automation is the attraction, SEO automation separates what software does well from what it does not.
When the report is the cheapest part of the bill
A reporting tool can cost $0 and still take four hours a month: checking that tracking still fires, filtering out brand searches, writing the paragraph that says what changed and why. For an owner, those hours are the real price. For an agency client, the report is how you check the work, so it should arrive with access to the underlying accounts and plain language about what moved.
DataCram's SEO programs include a monthly report that opens with calls and forms, then the search numbers behind them, then the work log, built on accounts the client owns. Programs run month to month with a defined scope, start at $575 a month, and are tiered by complexity and setup, per the SEO pricing page. To see where your own numbers stand first, the free website audit emails a report with fixes.
Questions owners ask about SEO tools
Data Studio, Google's free report builder, connected to Search Console and GA4. It refreshes on its own and can email a PDF to up to 50 people on a schedule. For owners who never open dashboards, GA4's own scheduled emails send a saved report as a PDF or CSV each month. Neither costs anything beyond setup time.
Yes. Google renamed Looker Studio back to Data Studio in April 2026, the name it carried until 2022. Existing reports, data sources and sharing moved over automatically. Looker, a separate product, remains Google's enterprise business intelligence platform. Some vendor pages and tutorials still use the Looker Studio name.
The export button stops at 1,000 rows. For more, use the Search Console API, which allows 50,000 rows per day per search type per property, through a script or a tool built on it. Larger sites can set up the bulk data export to BigQuery, which has no row limit but excludes anonymized queries and starts only from the day you set it up.
Yes. Under Share, choose Schedule delivery, add up to 50 recipients and pick the pages and frequency. Free accounts get one schedule per report, sent at most daily, with the report attached as a PDF. Data Studio Pro allows up to 200 schedules per report, hourly sends, a custom subject line and delivery to Slack or Google Chat.
Usually a white-label dashboard such as AgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Swydo or Whatagraph, or the report builder inside their SEO suite, such as Semrush My Reports or SE Ranking's Agency Pack. Many also use free Data Studio with partner connectors. The tool matters less than whether the client owns the Search Console and GA4 accounts behind it.
From nothing to €999 a month and up, as of October 2026. Data Studio and GA4 scheduled emails are free. Semrush charges $10 or $20 per report a month, AgencyAnalytics $20 per client a month billed annually, DashThis from $54 a month and Swydo from €69. Whatagraph starts at €999 a month, billed annually.
