Divi Builder Not Loading

The visual builder opens to a blank frame and stays there.
Clicking “Enable Visual Builder” does nothing, spins indefinitely, or loads a blank white frame. The page itself displays normally to visitors.
What it actually means
Divi's visual builder renders your live page inside the editor and layers its interface on top. It needs a great deal of memory, a clean set of scripts, and an unmodified copy of the page to work from.
When it fails to load, it is almost never because your content is damaged. It is because one of those three requirements is not being met — usually memory, occasionally a script conflict, and frequently a caching layer serving the builder a stale or already-processed version of the page.

Insufficient PHP memory
Divi is demanding. Under 256M the builder frequently fails to initialize on real pages.

Caching or minification interfering
Combined or minified scripts break the builder. Cached pages give it the wrong source to work from.

A plugin script conflict
Another plugin loading JavaScript that clashes with the builder's own.

An outdated Divi or WordPress version
Divi tracks WordPress closely. A version mismatch after a core update is a common trigger.

An expired Elegant Themes license key
Without a valid key, updates stop, and the installed version drifts out of compatibility over time.
How to fix it
Work through these in order. Take a backup before you change anything.
Step 1 — Clear every cache
Divi's own static CSS cache, your caching plugin, and the CDN. Do this before anything else — it is the most common fix and costs nothing.
Step 2 — Disable minification temporarily
Turn off JavaScript and CSS combination in your caching plugin, then retry. Minified scripts and visual builders coexist badly.
Step 3 — Raise PHP memory to 256M
Set WP_MEMORY_LIMIT in wp-config.php and confirm the host's PHP limit is at least as high.
Step 4 — Test with plugins disabled
On staging, disable non-essential plugins and retry. Reintroduce them one at a time to find the conflict.
Step 5 — Update Divi and check the license
Confirm the Elegant Themes key is valid and current, then update Divi and WordPress so versions match.
When to stop and call someone
Call someone if the builder fails on every page after a WordPress update, which usually means a version mismatch needing careful handling on a live site, or if disabling caching fixes it but you cannot afford to run the site without caching.

The most frequent causes are insufficient PHP memory, caching or script minification interfering with the builder's assets, and conflicts with other plugins. Clearing all caches and raising memory to 256M resolves the majority of cases.
It can, particularly script and stylesheet combination. The builder needs its own unminified assets and an unprocessed copy of the page. Excluding the builder from minification, or disabling it while editing, usually restores normal behavior.
At least 256M for comfortable use on real pages, and more on complex layouts. Divi loads a substantial amount of code to render the builder, so limits that are adequate for a normal WordPress site are often not enough here.
Not immediately, but it stops updates. Over time the installed version drifts out of compatibility with WordPress and PHP, and eventually something breaks. Keeping the license current is the cheapest form of prevention.
No. Divi stores its layout in the page content in the database, and the published page keeps rendering for visitors. Only the editing interface has failed, and the content returns intact once it loads again.
