About Rooster Roofing

Named after a bird that shows up early.

A San Antonio roofer built on one rule: say what the roof needs, put it in writing, and be there at seven. The company is fictional, made up by DataCram to show what a roofer's website can do.

The short version

Rooster Roofing started, in this story, with one truck and an argument. The founder had spent years with a storm-chasing outfit that sold whole roofs to people who needed pipe boots. He thought the honest version of the business would win on referrals alone. It took longer than he expected. It worked.

How we run it

  • Our crews are ours. No crews we met that morning. The crew lead who installs your roof is named in a text the day before.
  • One estimate, every line. Material by the square, tear-off, a decking allowance, flashing, ventilation, permits and disposal. Good for 30 days.
  • Insurance as a process, never a promise. We document, meet the adjuster and compare scopes. Your insurer decides, and we say so out loud.
  • Start at seven, leave it clean. Tarps over the beds, a magnet over the yard, the old roof in our trailer.

Things we will not do

Knock on your door after a hailstorm. Offer to cover your deductible. Call a repairable roof finished. Run a sale that ends tonight. Each of those makes a roofer money in the short run, which is the only run some roofers plan to be around for.

The fine print

Rooster Roofing is a fictional company created by DataCram, a San Antonio web company, to demonstrate a roofing website. It is not affiliated with any real business named Rooster Roofing. The crew, the trucks and the founding year are part of the demonstration. The website is real, and so is the phone number, which reaches DataCram.

House rules

Four things we will not do, for any price.

Printed here so you can hold us to them, and so you can recognize them when someone else offers.

  • Knock on your door after a hailstormIf we are at your door, you called us. The trucks with out-of-state plates can have the sidewalk.
  • Offer to cover your deductibleIt is against Texas law, and an offer to break one rule is a preview of the others.
  • Call a repairable roof finishedMost roofs we inspect need less than the owner was told. The report says so, in writing.
  • Run a sale that ends tonightThe estimate holds for 30 days. Get two more. Real prices survive comparison.

Promises

Promises with a dollar figure attached.

Anyone can promise good service. These cost us money when we miss them, which is the only kind of promise worth printing.

$50

On time, or $50 off.

You get a two-hour arrival window and a text when the crew lead leaves. If we are late, $50 comes off whatever you buy, or we mail a $50 check if you buy nothing.

$0

Zero surprises on the invoice.

The number you sign is the number on the invoice, unless you approve a change with a photo of the reason. If a surprise shows up on the bill anyway, it is ours, not yours.

$100

Every slope photographed, or $100 off.

Your report shows every slope, the flashing, the pipe boots and the vents. If a slope is missing, $100 comes off any work you hire us for within a year.

$100

A magnet sweep, or $100 back.

A magnetic sweeper goes over the yard, driveway and beds every day of the job. Find one of our nails within a week and we come back to sweep again, with $100 for your trouble.

Terms are illustrative, written for this demonstration site.

How a job runs

Six steps, each one in writing.

  1. 1

    Inspection

A person on the roof, photos of every slope, a written report within a business day. Free. If the roof needs nothing, the report says so.

  2. 2

    Estimate

Itemized: material, tear-off, a decking allowance, flashing, ventilation, permits and disposal. Good for 30 days. Shop it around.

  3. 3

    Insurance help

For storm damage: the photo report for your claim, a meeting with the adjuster if you want one, and their scope compared with ours, line by line. The insurer decides.

  4. 4

    Install

Tarps over the landscaping at 7 a.m. Tear-off and dry-in the same day, so the house is never open overnight. Most homes take one or two days.

  5. 5

    Cleanup

A magnetic sweep of the yard, the driveway and the beds. The old roof leaves in our trailer, not in your trash can.

  6. 6

    Warranty

Ten years on our workmanship for a replacement, two on a repair, in writing, on top of the manufacturer's. Photos of the finished roof for your files.

Free inspection

Not ready to pick a time?

Two taps and a phone number. A person calls you within one business day to set it up.

  1. Step 1 of 3
  2. Step 2 of 3
  3. Step 3 of 3
What is the roof doing?

One tap. We will ask one more thing.

Questions

Questions, answered plainly.

Still wondering?

Rooster, our assistant, answers roof and storm questions at any hour and can book the inspection.

Are roofers licensed in Texas?

Texas does not issue a state roofing license. That makes the paperwork you can check more important: a certificate of general liability insurance, workers' comp, a local office, and references in your ZIP code. We send the certificates before we start.

Do you use subcontracted crews?

No. Our crews are employees, and the crew lead on your roof is named in a text the day before. If a specialty trade is needed, such as an electrician for an attic fan, we tell you who and why.

Who will actually be on my roof?

The inspector who wrote your estimate, then a crew lead and three to five installers. Same people from tear-off to cleanup.

Is Rooster Roofing a real company?

No. It is a demonstration built by DataCram. It is not affiliated with any real business named Rooster Roofing, and calls and requests on this site reach DataCram.

Why the rooster?

Because roofing starts at seven, before the heat, and because a rooster is the one bird that announces itself and then shows up. Most roofers manage half of that.

Meet us on your roof.

The inspection is free and takes about an hour. You will know your inspector's name before he parks.
